Affordable Justice is a team of female family law solicitors who specialise in providing legal advice, assistance and representation to women on all family law matters. Without the help of a solicitor, family law can be tricky to navigate, and this area of law impacts women more so than anyone else. For this reason, we provide assistance solely to women across England and Wales.
Too many women do not qualify for legal aid; however, the cost of a commercial solicitor is far from affordable – this is where we come in. We are a registered charity, which is why we can provide our services to the women of Hull, Harrogate, and the rest of England and Wales at a non-profit making rate which is typically a third of the price charged by a commercial law firm.
If you live in Harrogate or the wider area and would like to get in touch with our Hull-based team, please fill out our contact form for a free initial discussion.
Q: Can your services only be accessed by women in Hull/East Yorkshire?
A: No, we can provide legal advice, assistance, and representation to all women across England and Wales.
Q: What is the cost of an initial consultation?
A: During our initial contact with you we will discuss your circumstances, your legal issues and the help we may be able to provide to you. This discussion is completely free of charge. If you wish to proceed with an appointment we can arrange this for you with one of our family law specialists. An upfront payment on account will be required in respect of this appointment.
Q: I do not have childcare; can my children come to my appointment?
A: While we do not believe it is appropriate to discuss sensitive issues with children present (remotely or in person), there is a purpose-built nursery onsite. Should you require a nursery session, please inform us ahead of your appointment so that we can make the necessary provisions.
Q: Why do you offer assistance exclusively to women?
A: Our research tells us that the huge cuts made to legal aid eligibility have affected women seeking family law services more so than anyone else. Therefore, we established ourselves as a non-profit law firm to help women navigate through family law issues and proceedings.
Q: Do you provide legal aid?
A: Our services are not classed as legal aid. Instead, we provide legal advice, assistance, and representation to women who do not qualify for legal aid and cannot afford to pay commercial solicitor fees. As of recent, the accessibility of legal aid has suffered, inspiring our mission of offering a more affordable alternative.
Affordable Justice is a charity that works to offer the women of Hull, Harrogate, and beyond legal advice, assistance and representation at a significantly lower rate.
