FAQs

Q: Do I need to come into your family law solicitor’s Hull office for a face-to-face appointment?

A: No – though you are very welcome. We are just as happy to chat with you on a Zoom or telephone call if it is awkward or difficult for you to come into the office.

Q: I have young children and struggle to find someone to help look after them. Is it okay if I bring them with me?

A: We believe that it is important for you to be able to speak freely during your appointment with us to ensure that you receive the best legal representation. We recognise that childcare can be an issue. If you come to our office in Hull which is based at the Preston Road Women’s Centre, we can, subject to availability, offer you a free nursery place for your child/children at our purpose-built and run nursery during your appointment. Should you prefer to have a remote consultation, our family law solicitors in Hull can offer appointments later in the evening after your children have gone to bed.

Q: How much does it cost for an initial chat?

A: When you make an initial enquiry with us, we will chat through your circumstances and assess your legal position and what help we may be able to provide. We do not charge for this initial chat. Should you decide to go ahead and use our services, we then require an upfront payment on account and will arrange an appointment for you with one of our family law specialists.

Q: Do you offer legal aid work? A: No, we work with those women who do not qualify for legal aid.  With significant cutbacks to the availability of legal aid, we identified a real need to create a more affordable way of working with women. As a result, we set up Affordable Justice as a charitable law firm working specifically to give the women of Hull and beyond access to a family law solicitors firm that charged considerably less than usual legal fees.
